Fortune Cookie vs Bad Cookie
Saturday, August 23, 2003
Dined out at Chopstick today and got my fortune cookie that says:
"You'll be one of the greatest lottery ticket winners!!"
Isn't that WOW?
Though Indonesia doesn't have legal lottery!
Isn't that great to read nice things?
Still..I will buy a lottery when I'm abroad ;-)
Heyy...btw, today my computer and my internet modem has got back to normal again! So here I am...
Back to the cookie's thing!
My Bad Cookie tonight is "You will attract uncultured people to your home"
Imitation of Life Sound

A.k.a Onomatopoeia! So if I want to ask "how does 'this' sounds in your language?", I can also say "what is the onomatopoeic expression of 'this' in your country?". Am I right?
Though it looks trifling I think it's good to learn onomatopoeia because it sometimes is necessary in conversations. So when I said to my friend that my dog always says
guk..guk..guk
that will not make them to think if Zippo were a dog from mars ;)
Animal Sounds Revisited reveals me onomatopoeic expressions in some countries and I learn that the Swedish pigs sound like human. It's true, they're just like saying 'enough-enough.'
Meanwhile
Bzzzpeek in a nice and creative way gathers onomatopoeia from around the world so to be heard. That's right, to hear them be spoken according to the native! Too bad, no Indonesian's onomatopoeia at all.
Anyway, let me tattle a bit...
At night sometimes the crickets lull me with krik..krik..krik even most of the time my neighbour's dog can't stop screaming
guk-guk-guk. Still I will only likely become awakened in the stillness of the night if the stray cat starts his spooky sound,
meong-meong, which will definitely make me
brrr
and cause me want to hear the rooster welcoming the morning with
kukuruyuk immediately. Poor cat, maybe he's just pitying his empty tummy because the mice are clever enough to hide themselves and to stop sounding
cit-cit every time they smell the cat close enough.
As for me, of course some bad night sleep effect will linger till the morning to cause me feels heavily irritated when I hear the incessant
tin-tin (no, don't ever change the 'n' with 't', otherwise the Javanese would think that they've just met a possibly sicko) of a bunch of cars trapped in the terrible traffic of Jakarta. How I wish to have a gun so I can
dor-dor the air (of course) to silent those
tin-tin.
I'm sure it would be different in rural. There, the morning's always greeted by the early birds with their
cuit-cuit, and the rooster will have his concubines to sing
tek-kotek-kotek, the goat with their hungry-sound,
mbe-mbe. Oh, and if I am lucky enough I might also see a peasant guarding a flock of ducks marching and chanting
kwek-kwek-kwek. At night, the wise owl will conduct the night orchestra with his
ku-ku-ku. How lovely isn't it!
"Enof..enof", says a piggy from Sweden,
"you're just making the worst onomatopoeia illustration!"
This Little Pig

Wow
This Little Pig has Canon in D Major as its illustration music.
I heard Canon in D Major first when Coolio's song, "See you when you get there", became a hit. I told my friend Laura how I really like the background music of Coolio's song, then she said something like, if we really listen to the sound then we would notice that the background music is actually a classical music, Canon in D Major. Ever since that day it has then become my favourite one. Amongst so many great music, this piece sounds so magical to me. Very peaceful, a soul-lifting piece!
Because of
This Little Pig, I searched on the net for Pachelbel's Canon midi, and I found many version of it
here.
Orisinal Games
Sunday, June 15, 2003
I was almost wordless!
Orisinal contains many aesthetically pleasing games with relaxing background music especially the one of
Hydrophobia. I haven't tried all, but so far
Bubble Bees,
Cranky Crabs,
Panda Run are too cute to be skipped.
Last year Leet sent me
The Amazing Dare-Dozen as an attachment. Now I am wondering how to do that because I don't see any 'save' command provided for the game. Oh, there's a cute dog in
It takes two, the other one of that two is a cat. I fed the dog more because a woof sounds much better than a miaoww
! No offense, simply because I am a dog person.
I've decided,
Orisinal by all odds becomes the entry of my Addicted list. More about the creator of these very cute games can be found
here. Why not send him
flowers
The 'About'
Sunday, June 15, 2003
Most of Weblog has 'About' article on it. I feel discomfited to write my own 'About', so I browsed the net to get a free 'reading' to use it as my 'About'.
So here it is what I got:
[....bracketed are my words.....]
Ouli will never grow up, and nor would we ever want her to [ who are 'we'? ]. It is Ouli's ability to be innocently fun-loving and childlike that makes her so endearing [ ;-P ]. Ouli is extremely clever and sophisticated [ Goshhh...this is too much, I'm blushing ]. There is, after all, a very big difference between being childlike and being childish [ I thought so, I'm certainly not an immature ]. Ouli is open minded, unselfish and able somehow to approach each new day with a spirit of real, fresh inspiration [ but keep it abstract ]. That explains why Ouli enjoys life so much [ the truth is: I'm still afraid of death! yet I'm Christian, pathetic isn't it! ] and it also explains why other people, looking at Ouli's life from a distance, cannot understand why she enjoys it so much [ so don't be distant ]. Those of us who know and love Ouli find her enigmatic, mysterious or even downright baffling [ Gosh again! This reminds me on my umfriend's words! ]. We can't help liking her [ blushing ], but nor can we quite manage to work out where she is at [ anywhere ], where she is coming from [ God ], what she is up to [ secret ] or what she is in to [ many things ]. Ouli's tastes and preferences are what some people would call eclectic [ superb ], others would term unusual and most folk would classify as 'just plain weird' [ my umfriend said my preferances are weird ]. Ouli, though, is consistent in her inconsistency [ it's perpetual ]. There is method to her madness [ ??? ]. Ouli is interested in - even fascinated by - so many strange, different topics and subjects [ absolutely ] because Ouli is such a natural experimenter [ but mostly too lazy & moody ].
Ouli doesn't need to travel the world in search of variety [ untrue! ]. Ouli can wake up one morning feeling quite sure that she is one particular kind of person [ he..he..heh ]. By the afternoon she will be someone else [ what? Disassociative Identity Disorder??? ]. Her personality will not change [ I feel comfortable with it ], her loyalty will not waver but her mood will evolve allowing her to explore, enthusiastically, ways of behaviour which only a few hours ago seemed unattractive [ agree ]. Thus Ouli creates a world in which there is constant variety and excitement [ yes..yes..yes.. ]. Boring people, who like to follow life's laws to the letter and stick rigidly to one fixed plan find Ouli hard to handle or even to relate to [ who needs boring people anyway? ]. People with a sense of adventure, a sense of imagination and, most importantly of all a sense of humour, cannot get enough of Ouli's company [ love them too ].
If I were a Cyborg
Saturday, June 14, 2003
Then I would be an
Obedient Unit Limited to Infiltration. Sound so brainwashed & dangerous.
I also entered some friends names into
Cyborger to find out what Cyborg would they be. Cyborg (n): A human being whose body has been taken over in whole or in part by electromechanical devices.
Me silliness is my bezzy mate sometimes ;-)
Book Shopping Guide
Friday, June 6, 2003
Today my weblog is not on diet at all!
I forgot to mention, I put one essential blog on my Blogseeing list.
Book Blog provides a brief review of books. I have compared her taste with mine from her review on one book that I also have read and really like. I found our taste is quite the same, so I think her review can be a good guide for my book shopping.
If you don't know me...
Friday, June 6, 2003
It's the sixth of June already. I was planning to feed my weblog on the first of this month soon after I finish grooming it. It's done since days ago, but the conflict between putting some more personal related postings or not needed longer time to be settled.
Anyway upon my way for the answer, I skimmed many weblogs and they amaze me for being that open about their lives. I also found some interesting ones and there is one weblog that currently interests me. The blogger has a gripping language and I love rich words even if I don't understand them :-P
I have been visiting that weblog for 4 or 5 times and it's likely to continue. I want to put it on my Blogseeing list, but I feel reluctant if I have to contact the person for that. One more thing that deters me from doing so is the statement on his 'about'. It says:
"If you don't know me, I can't imagine why you're reading this: I am probably not someone whom it would be good to know, as it is said, in real life. :P"
